My Why: My Journey to becoming a Counsellor

Hi, I’m Lisa, and I’m the heart behind Leeds Counselling for Wellbeing. As a professional online counsellor, people often ask me why I chose this path. The truth is, my journey to becoming a counsellor has been shaped by personal experiences of trauma, grief, anxiety, post-natal depression, and self-discovery. I know first-hand how overwhelming life can feel, and that’s why I’m passionate about helping others navigate their struggles through online counselling and therapy.

Finding Strength After Trauma

I’m a survivor of historic sexual abuse. For years, I kept it all locked away, thinking if I ignored it, maybe it would just disappear. (Spoiler: it didn’t.) The weight of that trauma was suffocating, and I felt so alone. It took me a long time to speak up and even longer to start healing.
