Counselling and Psychotherapy

Let's get started! I understand that finding the right counsellor can feel daunting. That's why I offer a free 20-minute chat to help us both explore whether we're a good fit for working together. This initial telephone conversation gives you a chance to ask questions, share what brings you to counselling, and get a sense of how I work.

My Approach

As an integrative counsellor, I blend different therapeutic approaches to best support your individual needs. Think of it like having access to a variety of tools – we can use what works best for you at any given time. Sometimes you might need space to explore past experiences and understand how they influence your present (psychodynamic). Other times, you might benefit from practical strategies to manage difficult thoughts or feelings (CBT), or learning about how your mind and emotions work (psychoeducation). Most importantly, we'll work together to find an approach that feels right for you. There's no one-size-fits-all in therapy – your journey is unique, and your therapy should reflect that.

What's the Difference Between Counselling and Psychotherapy?

You might hear both terms used interchangeably, and there's often overlap between them. Counselling typically focuses on specific issues or current challenges you're facing, helping you find ways forward. Psychotherapy often involves deeper exploration of long-standing patterns, past experiences, and how they shape your present life. I integrate both approaches, allowing us to work at whatever level feels most helpful for you.

Perinatal Support

The journey through pregnancy and early parenthood can bring unexpected emotional challenges. As a parent who has experienced postnatal depression myself, I understand first-hand how overwhelming this time can be. You might feel anxious about pregnancy or birth, depression during pregnancy or after birth, or difficulty bonding with your baby. The overwhelming emotions, loss of identity, and relationship changes that come with new parenthood can feel intense and isolating. Previous pregnancy loss or trauma can make this journey even more complex.

Being a parent myself, I know how crucial it is to have support from someone who truly understands. I provide specialist perinatal counselling, creating a safe space where you can explore these feelings without shame or judgement. For parents with babies up to one year old, you're welcome to bring your little one to our online sessions. My personal experience, both as a parent and someone who has navigated postnatal depression, combined with my professional training, allows me to offer support that comes from a place of deep understanding and empathy.
